# Global Water & Energy (GWE) > Global Water & Energy designs and builds industrial water and wastewater > treatment plants, water reuse systems, anaerobic digestion of organic solids > and waste-to-energy installations. Founded in 1991 and headquartered in > Bruges, Belgium, GWE is part of the Ekopak group and operates worldwide. GWE's work is organised around three pillars: - **IWWT** — industrial water and wastewater treatment: removing organic load, solids, nutrients and odour from process water so it meets discharge limits. - **WtE** — waste-to-energy: capturing biogas from anaerobic treatment and organic solids, then valorising it as green energy, heat or grid gas. - **Water Reuse** — reclaiming treated effluent to a quality that allows it to be returned to the production process instead of discharged.
